Users in MediusFlow and Active Directory are linked by the ExternalSystemId in MediusFlow which corresponds to the UPN in Active Directory.
If the UPN in Active Directory is changed, the integration for user import will not find a corresponding ID in MediusFlow. As a result, the users will be imported as if they were new. The Username in Active Directory is usually not changed resulting in a duplicate error in the MediusFlow database since the Username for all users in MediusFlow must be unique.
For a small set of users the fastest way is to first change the ExternalSystemId to the new UPN manually in MediusFlow. Next, change the UPN to the new value in Active Directory. For instructions on how to change the ExternalSystemId in MediusFlow, see the FAQ item below.
If you are updating the UPN for a large number of users, contact Medius support for assistance before changing the UPN in Active Directory.
